You return from a two-hour meeting to find a thread with 23 new messages. Three departments are debating a budget reallocation. Someone changed their mind halfway through. There is a deadline buried in message 17.
Reading every message would take 15 minutes. Understanding the outcome would take another 5. Kerna does both in under 30 seconds.
How Summarization Works
When you open any email thread and click Summarize, Kerna sends the full conversation to the AI engine. The response comes back as a structured executive brief containing three sections:
Key Points — The core facts and positions expressed in the thread, distilled into bullet points.
Decisions Made — Any agreements, approvals, or conclusions reached during the conversation.
Action Items — Tasks assigned to specific people, with deadlines if mentioned.
Designed for Busy Leaders
This feature was built with managers in mind. If you lead a team of 10, you are likely CC'd on dozens of threads you need to monitor but do not need to read in full. Kerna lets you triage your inbox in minutes rather than hours.
The summarization engine handles threads in any language. If your team is global and messages arrive in German, Spanish, and English mixed together, Kerna summarizes the entire conversation into a single coherent brief in your preferred language.
Thread Depth
Kerna analyzes up to the last 50 messages in a thread. For most business conversations, this covers the entire history. The AI weighs recent messages more heavily, so the summary reflects the current state of the discussion rather than outdated positions.
Privacy Note
Your email content is processed in real-time and never stored. The summary is generated, delivered to your sidebar, and the source data is immediately discarded. No email content is retained on any server.
Executive Summaries are available on Standard, Pro, and Business plans. The Standard plan unlocks Summaries with GPT-5 for structured, detailed briefs. Not available on the free Starter tier.
