Our story
Why we built Kerna
We were scaling a client service team across Europe. We needed specialists who understood the product deeply — but who also spoke German, French, or Japanese fluently. Finding that combination was either impossible or absurdly expensive.
The alternative was clunky: copy an email, paste it into Google Translate, read a rough translation, draft a reply in English, translate it back, hope it sounded natural. It didn't. Clients could always tell.
We realized we didn't need more people. We needed to give the experts we already had the ability to communicate fluently in any language, instantly. That idea became Kerna.
Translation is where Kerna started, and it is still part of it. But the teams using it needed help before the reply: the order that had to be retyped, the invoice nobody had opened, the customer answered twice because two people saw the same email. So Kerna grew from helping one person write into handling the work that arrives in a team's inbox.
Privacy first
How we think about privacy
No email content stored
Email content is read only when you use a feature and is never written to our databases, logs or backups. OpenAI keeps none of it, under Zero Data Retention terms.
No Model Training
We do not use your data to train AI models. Your emails are not part of any dataset. Your business stays your business.
EU Hosted
Kerna is headquartered in Poland and operates under EU data protection regulations.
Only while Kerna is open
No job on our servers reads your mailbox. Kerna reads email when you use a feature and, in a shared mailbox, when you open Home or a team list, to keep team statuses and assignments current. In Outlook you can let Triage scan again every 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes; it stops when Kerna is closed.
