What happens to the email
Kerna does not store the content of your emails. It is read when someone uses a feature and is never written to our databases, logs or backups. In the email text, card numbers, IBANs and some national ID numbers are replaced before it reaches the AI provider.

Frequently asked questions
Does Kerna fit our duty of confidentiality?
That is for your firm to judge under its own professional rules. The facts: Kerna acts only when someone uses a feature and never scans the mailbox in the background. The text a feature needs goes to OpenAI under Zero Data Retention terms. Kerna's servers are in Belgium and account data is stored in Warsaw; OpenAI may process data in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses. The trust page and the DPA have the detail.
Does Kerna connect to Clio or PracticePanther?
Not directly. Extracted fields export to Google Sheets from Gmail or Excel from Outlook. In Outlook, Send to passes a checked form to Make, Zapier or Power Automate.
Can enquiries@ be split between fee earners?
In an Outlook shared mailbox, on Business and Enterprise: everyone on your Kerna team sees who is handling each email and where it stands. Kerna stores the status, never the email.
How does this differ from AI email assistants?
Most of them help one person write faster. Kerna starts from the work that arrives: it sorts the firm's mail into your categories, reads filings and agreements into a sheet, and drafts the reply for review. Writing and translation in 45 languages are part of it, not the point of it.
